As this tough lockdown draws to an end we cant wait to open our doors, see you all again and get back to serving! So this post is to let you know what our plans are…
On April 12th we are going to be serving outside from 10am until late – how late will depend on the weather and the demand. We aren’t taking bookings because we found that people cancel outside bookings all the time due to weather. Constant cancellations are very hard for us to manage, so instead we are operating a walk up service. We have increased our capacity outside and reduced our menu to start with to keep things streamlined and fast! In the first instance we are bringing you hash bowls and breakfasts – plus all the normal hot drinks, wines and cocktails.
The rest of our reopening will follow government guidance and we are keen to try and get back to where we were with evening DJ’s etc as soon as possible but as we will always put safety first. When we re-opened last summer we removed exactly 50% of our tables, filling up the empty gaps with 100s of plants, we received lots of compliments about this approach and people told us that they felt very safe. We are still working just as hard to keep it that way! We have also applied to the council’s Covid accreditation scheme.
For those that don’t know, as a response to the pandemic we have opened up Ernie, a shop, deli and takeout around the back of Ernest. Ernie has a huge focus on local products, small producers, good quality ingredients and stuff that considers the planet. This ethos will be strongly carried through into the menu of Ernest where we will be using the very best ingredients and as much organic veg as we can. Expect to see a smaller menu and more info about where the food has come from.
